Ancient Egypt. Wooden Ushabti box, used to hold Ushabtis, servants of the afterlife, with gold leaf on the surface and carved hieroglyphs. Raised, decoratively carved figures on all sides including a standing Hathor the Egyptian goddess of joy, love and motherhood, wearing a crown and holding the hand of Isis, the protective Goddess, the wife of Osiris and the mother of Horus, wearing a sun disc and holding a staff. On the sides, the Egyptian falcon-headed, sky God, Horus, standing and holding hands with a pharaoh and Anubis, the jackal-headed God who presided over mummification and accompanied the dead to the hereafter. Arched sides and a flat lid on the top.

26th Dynasty. 663-525 BC
